Yes, 1Password uses cloud computing to provide strong security measures while making user data available on any device. For ease of use and speed, it makes an encrypted copy of all data and keeps it on each device. Everything stored on 1Password's servers is encrypted, even the names of vaults and URLs to websites. Without the user's password and Secret Key, even if the server were to be compromised, the data would remain indecipherable. Importantly, 1Password doesn't save either the password or the Secret Key, which is an extra safeguard.
The difficulty of decrypting data encrypted with a key depends on its length. By combining your 1Password account password with what they term your Secret Key, 1Password was able to employ an encryption key that was longer than anything individuals could dependably recall. When combined with your account password, this generates an encryption key that is significantly more secure. You won't have to enter the Secret Key every time you want to access 1Password because it is safely kept on your devices.
No, you can store more than just passwords on 1Password, despite its name. Any information that you need secured can be stored on the platform, from bank accounts to passport information and more.
